FireWire provides new acquisition options for machine vision, enhancing the broad range of acquisition currently supported by Cognex MVS-8000® frame grabbers. FireWire-based systems can be configured with as many as 63 cameras, from multiple vendors and in varying resolutions. Applications can use both color and monochrome FireWire cameras. Incremental capacity can be added as needed through inexpensive FireWire interface cards. With this flexibility, FireWire-based systems provide a greater range of capabilities than any single frame grabber.
